Cool thing is, I actually can sleep the night before the big day. But, when we were going for make-up, i noticed that not sleeping is a good thing. As our make-up was to blacken our “panda eyes”, by not sleeping actually gave us the “natural look”. Let’s go back a few hours first..
I know today is the big day, but our last two scenes were not done yet, and our director was outstation and only can come back by 3pm. Yeah, shocking!! But we don’t blame him. We rehearse from 9am to 6pm, and then changed into our costumes (which were only white t-shirt and white pants) and went to do our make-up. And as I said just now, blah blah blah blah blah…
Okay, show time! The first crowd and tough. It seemed like nothing could please them. They were, how do you say it, “chilly” or “cool” or “cold”. It was pretty AWKWARD, especially when emily and jeremy asked the audience after the show, whoever that wanted to give comments can come up to the stage. Both of them were standing on the stage, alone, and all you can hear is the cricket sound. That was the most awkward moment. So then, the lighting person asked us all to go up the stage to share the awkward moment with them. And we started singing the song “for good”.
The second show was the best! The audience was mostly the cast members’ parents so they gave lots of support. There was laughter and applause throughout the show. Some of the audience even repeated what we said. And because of their laughter, it made us wanted to laugh too. But we had such a suffering time to hold our laughter. After the second show, we were standing on stage going “Saxon saxon rock you!” and “当我说 saxon 你说 yo! SAXON! YO! SAXON! YO!” and what we DIDN’T know is that there was a projector outside and it was showing our movements to the public outside. Another awkward moment. Emily, Jeremy, May Shuen, Vannessa, Teacher Lily and I overnighted in Saxon, where all of us took turns to bathe and it took us 5 hours to completely wash off the make up, sweat and dirt from our body. HUH!
Next day, the third show, we all rehearsed for a while and rested longer than we rehearse. During rest time, almost everyone was in teacher Lily’s room talking about ghost stories and jokes. When our drama teacher joins us, he told us a super scary story about his childhood. It frighten everyone especially the small kids. They didn’t even dare to go in the toilet and change by themselves. Okay, showtime again. This time, it was a disaster!! Let me tell you, details by details..
Our musical started out with a prelude. Then comes the real musical. There was a bunch of people walking hopelessly and tired, then suddenly the leader (me, haha) made a loud step, then everyone stopped. Again with the loud footstep, everyone fell down and rush to the back. Suddenly, there were some ryhthmic steps. After the last step was suppose to be a quite moment, like the last two shows. But in this show, after the last step there was a “phuttttt” sound. Could you believe that somebody FARTED?!? Actually it wasn’t THAT funny, but then someone made a “yer~” sound, that made all the cast on stage laughed. It was horrible as I was the first soloist and the last step was my cue. When I sang, my voice sounded like there was a frog in my throat jumping out. Oh My Gosh. Another awkward moment. When we got to backstage, we were scolded badly by our teacher. Ugh.. But, after that the show went on quite well.
Whew, the three shows are finally over. We were all shouting and hugging and taking photos and shouting again as we don’t have to protect our voices. Woo Hoo!! These are the photos that we took that day..
